If you are new to my blog -Hello and welcome! I’m Jana Donohoe, a full time interior designer, half time blogger (I really only blog when I do the ORC), wife and mama to 3 beautiful kiddos in North Carolina. I’m really excited to be participating again as a guest in my third One Room Challenge! Thank you to Linda of Calling it Home for organizing and creating this event so that I have an excuse to actually make time to work on my own home!
For those not familiar with the One Room Challenge (aka- ORC) it’s a biannual event (October and April) where 20 invited design bloggers makeover a room in six crazy filled weeks and blog about the process every Wednesday. I’ll be joining in on the fun as a Guest participant and will be sharing my crazy process and journey every Thursday for the next six weeks, along with a number of other talented designers. Trust me when I say that if you need inspiration for an upcoming home makeover or just need some eye candy you need not look any further then all the talented designers linking up on the ORC.
Ooops….So this post is counting as week 2 and week 3. I kind of got really busy and forgot to post a week 2 update. Although I’m not sure I really would have had much to report anyway. I cleaned the toys and room out to prepare for paint, that was about it! I had High Point Furniture market this last week so I am beyond exhausted and trying to catch up on my projects today! It was nice to come home last night to a painted room though. My painter and handyman got another coat of paint on today and the crown molding installed. I don’t have a picture with the updates today because the room currently has no light in it and it’s dark.
Here is my week 2 update- All clean but forgot about some hidden items that need to go on my to-do list. When we converted this room a few years ago we took out some built-ins that took up way to much space in this room and now we are left with holes in our baseboards that we never got around to repairing. Secondly, I hate that baseboard heat- we have never used it and it’s taking up precious space. So it’s going bye-bye along with the ceiling fan. My husband also took the carpet out so we will be adding refinishing the hardwoods in here to the to-do list as well. Shouldn’t the list be getting smaller???
Here was the room yesterday when I got home. I had not received my fabric for the drapes before I left for HP market so I wasn’t sure what colors I was going to pick…an idea-yes, but not 100% sure. My painter called and needed colors picked Tuesday so he could start and I literally picked them on a shuttle on my way to a furniture showroom. No paint swatches, no fabric swatches. Just an idea, design friends and memory of colors with me. I think we did good! (sigh of relief)
What do you think of my bold choice for the ceiling? It’s Sherwin Williams Blue Peacock.
I have these night stands that I purchased for my first daughter that need a little cleaning up and I think I will end up painting them. I’m still thinking on color. That’s it for now folks. I can’t think anymore and really need to get some sleep. Hopefully I am less of a mess next week. Have a great week everyone.
