If you are new to my blog -Hello and welcome! I’m Jana Donohoe, a full time interior designer, part time blogger, wife and mama to 3 beautiful kiddos in North Carolina. I’m really excited to be participating again as a guest in my third One Room Challenge! Thank you to Linda of Calling it Home for organizing and creating this event so that I have an excuse to actually make time to work on my own home!
For those not familiar with the One Room Challenge (aka- ORC) it’s a biannual event (October and April) where 20 invited design bloggers makeover a room in six crazy filled weeks and blog about the process every Wednesday. I’ll be joining in on the fun as a Guest participant and will be sharing my crazy process and journey every week for the next six weeks, along with a number of other talented designers. Trust me when I say that if you need inspiration for an upcoming home makeover or just need some eye candy you need not look any further then all the talented designers linking up on the ORC.
Week 6 updates- Finalizing details
Sorry for the late post guys- I’m late to the party as usual! Life is just crazy right now…a good crazy though.
So traditionally in ORC history week 6 would have been the big reveal week but we were gifted an extra week and I am beyond grateful for that extra week! I of course am scrambling for all those finishing details to make Genevieve’s room special and uniquely her style.I think we are all ready for this bedroom to come to fruition. Genevieve is getting really excited about her reveal!! I told her this weekend I had to lock her out until it was all finished so that the reveal is extra special when she see’s it all come together. She has been involved in the process every step of the way.
Here is a recap of the recent weeks progress
I spent the weekend mostly painting, working on some touch-ups and last minute furniture painting. I also picked up the draperies and bed canopy on Friday- OMG I’m so in love with her drapery fabric I might just move into her room. My hardware for my drapery rods still have not arrived so I haven’t hung those yet, but fingers crossed it looks like a Monday delivery.
My electrician also installed her Crystorama light fixture-It is STUNNING! I was a little nervous to see how the circle cut outs were going to play out in her room with the peacock blue ceiling but it looks like a sparkly gem!
Here’s a little peek at some of my DIY painting projects this week. This little night stand got a wee little makeover. The color was an antique white before and it looked really yellow once the walls went white. So I pulled out my paint swatches and found a perfect color match to the Young America dresser from Craigslist I found a few weeks ago. Which is just slightly pink. The color is Intimate White from Sherwin Williams. Did I say it’s a PERFECT color match?!
Another Paint project -painting the bed canopy crown. Now to hang it!
Have I given you enough teasers? Until next week my friends- The final reveal is Thursday November 16th. Stay tuned….
