A MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE TO THE FALLEN, HERE IN MY HOMETOWN OF FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA, HOME OF FORT BRAGG.

As many of you know, I live in Fayetteville, North Carolina, home to Fort Bragg, the United States Army’s largest military installation in the world.

In our area, Memorial Day holds very special significance and there are many events here in Fayetteville commemorating those who have given their lives for our country.

My husband, Chris, retired as a Sergeant Major after serving our country for 21 years. He’s been here in Fayetteville since 1999 and every day, I am grateful for his service to our country and to our family.

Since many of my clients will see this post and are either active duty or retired military, I want to take this opportunity to thank you, too. I know many of you have lost family or friends in service to our country. -There is no greater sacrifice.

I am honored that you have trusted me to create homes for you where you and your families feel nurtured and safe.

PLACES TO VISIT/THINGS TO DO IN FAYETTEVILLE TO COMMEMORATE MEMORIAL DAY

A very special place to visit here in Fayetteville on Memorial Day is the Flag Field at the U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations Museum.

Each year on Memorial Day and Veterans Day, flags fill the field, each one flown in honor of a service member who has died serving our nation.

The picture opening this post is of my two daughters, sitting in front of the Flag Field.

Below is one of the Flag Field, from the museum’s own website.

Here’s a picture of my son in the Flag Field, from this same trip we made to it last Memorial Day.

The Museum’s mission statement reads, “ Our mission is to collect, preserve, research, accurately interpret, and communicate the U.S. Army’s airborne and special operations history and material culture from 1940 to the present in innovative ways that support the recruitment, training, education, and retention of our Soldiers; and to provide the military profession, and the nation with an accessible venue for the exploration of the U.S. Army’s airborne and special operations history.”

It’s a very special place to come and support if you’re ever visiting Fayetteville or Fort Bragg, and if you live here, it’s a must see. Find out more details, here.

Another one of the special events here in Fayetteville, commemorating those who have fallen in service to our country is the Memorial Day Circle of Remembrance Ceremony & Run/Walk.

We also have the Freedom Memorial Park here, erected in 1992, which honors those from Fayetteville who have lost their lives in service to our country, starting with World War 1.

It, too, is a very memorable and humbling place to visit. Find out more, here.

No matter where you live, I hope you will take some time this Memorial Day weekend to not only enjoy your family and friends, but to remember what our nations’ military families have sacrificed to make our freedom possible.

My husband, Chris, made my life’s greatest gifts possible, our 3 children! I give thanks every day that he made it out of the military alive and unharmed, when so many were not so fortunate.

We never want our children to forget.

Thank you for the great post! It’s easy to spend the long weekend enjoying friends and family without remembering to truly be grateful to the men and women who sacrifice to make our freedoms possible. Many members of my extended family have served and I often tell my kids their stories so they will remember
