I don’t know about all of you, fellow Moms & Dads, but we had the best time on our summer vacation this year and I’m not quite ready to get back into thinking about sending my 3 back to school…but I have to, because school starts for Genevieve and Scarlet on the 21st and for Grant (he’s entering 1st grade!!) on the 26th.
Who’s with me on not being ready to let them go? Pass the wine, please.
This summer, as those of you who watched my Instagram Stories know, we spent some time in San Diego, first, and then travelled up the coast to spend time with my family, where I got to see my 2 sisters, my Mom and grandmother and my kids got to play with their cousins.
I wrote about our trip before I left, here, and I shared some good news regarding my husband, Chris’s business, too. I am so fortunate to be married to another passionate entrepreneur who loves family like I do.
After we got back and settled back in, the next thing I had to do, besides tend to my clients who so patiently waited for me while I was gone (thank you, if you are one of them!), was to start organizing for back to school.
This past weekend, I threw out a lot of their old school papers, donated a ton of their old clothes, old toys, etc. to our local Goodwill and took some old towels to our local animal shelter.
Dogs with hip dysplasia or other joint problems that live in shelters definitely appreciate having a soft towel underneath them. I hope you will do this with your old towels, too. And if you live here in Fayetteville, North Carolina, too, or near, this is our area’s only licensed no-kill pet shelter: https://www.fapspet.org/
It felt so good to get things all organized again.
As you probably remember, I’ve re-designed the bedrooms of both of my daughters during past #OneRoomChallenges so they have now have desk areas where they can do their homework. This year, it might be time for my son’s room, since he is starting 1st grade. 1st grade! I still can’t believe it.
This is my youngest daughter, Genevieve’s, desk area. If you’d like to see her entire room, please click here.
And this is the desk area of my oldest daughter, Scarlet, that I finished this past Spring. If you’d like to see more pictures and read the story of her bedroom’s makeover, please click here. Scarlet loves her bedroom now, and missed it while she away at camp this summer, before we left for our vacation.
I recently asked Scarlet and Genevieve what they would like to have for Back To School …and they came up with things that surprised me… they didn’t ask for clothes, they wanted locker decor, new lunch boxes and Blackwing Palomino pencils – LOL!
Do you have children who know what Blackwing’s Palomino pencils are? I was caught off guard! I guess my love of design details is rubbing off on them – LOL!
So, I thought I’d share some of what I’ve found for them with you, in case you’re a busy Mom, too, and you think your children might like some of these things.
You can purchase any of these by clicking on the links below each image, and if you do, I will make a tiny percentage of the price, which helps me pay for running this blog – and I’m thanking you in advance if you do!
It’s not easy to find Blackwing’s colorful Palomino pencils on an ecommerce site, other than Blackwing’s own site, but I did find one set on Amazon, the set of 3 that you see in the image below.
Although the colorful pencils you see in the image below without erasers are also made by Blackwing, they are not their Palomino brand, so if you have particular children like I do, buy carefully!
I love that they donate a percentage of every purchase to fund music and art education at the K-12 levels.
Buy the set of 3 Palomino pencils on Amazon by clicking, here, and the colorful Blackwing pencils without erasers on Amazon, by clicking here. To buy the other colors of Palomino pencils, go to www.blackwing602.com. You can also find some discontinued colors on Etsy.
After the colored Palomino pencils, they asked me for locker decor, specifically magnetic locker wallpaper and chandeliers. Who knew there were so many locker chandeliers? I sure didn’t!
I found these magnetic locker wallpapers on Amazon. They are heavy duty vinyl magnet sheets that won’t tear (like regular locker wallpaper will ) when your children throw their books and backpacks in their locker in a rush.
They come in all kinds of prints and colors, these are just a few of my favorites. Click here to see all of the patterns they offer – and to purchase.
Here are a few of my favorite locker chandeliers. I am curious which ones my girls will like best.
Tip: Locker chandeliers run on batteries, so make sure and stock up on the right size of batteries while you’re shopping, if you don’t have them already.

Lastly, my girls asked me for new lunch boxes. That word, box, now takes on so many different shapes and forms, and these are 3 of my favorites. I don’t know which one they’ll like best yet ( if any of them) . but what do you think? Do you like these? Which one do you like best?

It’s been fun sharing with you what my girls have asked me for as I prepare them to get ready to go back to school. What are your children asking you for? Let me know in the comments!
As always, thanks for reading & subscribing to my blog – I appreciate each of you and here’s to a good school year ahead for all of our children.
