One Room Challenge | Week Three | Tween-Age Bedroom Makeover

Hello, Hello again!

Welcome (back) to my week three update on my tween-age daughters bedroom makeover. We are officially half way thru the One Room Challenge. (ECK!) If you missed my previous posts you can catch up below.

Week One | Week Two

All caught up? Great. Now on to the week three update….

Soooo, progress has been slow to date. We’ve made very minor strides in her bedroom. We finally got the room all cleaned out last week. This week the carpet was pulled up and I had crown molding added. Painting was suppose to start this week also but got delayed because I couldn’t align my work schedule to meet the painter. So hopefully will get that knocked out this weekend. We are only painting inside closet walls, the trim work and the ceiling. So this step should (hopefully) go quickly.

Before- Tween age bedroom

I’ve been working some late nights to get items ordered and trying to make some decisions on details for the room. For some reason I’m having a hard time committing to anything, other then the flamingo wallpaper.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that my daughter has talked me into only keeping one bed in her room. Remember in week one I said the non-negotiable was getting rid of one of the beds. She had two full size beds to begin with. So now I’m having to fill a little extra space in the room and shift the furniture plan.

Before tween bedroom

Notice the window above? It’s dead center of the wall. Meaning now that I have to switch the furniture plan, the bed is going to have to be under the window. Which, I don’t love to do! But I don’t have any other good options so I’ll make the best of it.

Here are a couple spaces that totally rocked the bed under the window. This makes me feel a little better about the situation.

I’m going to beef up the width of the custom drapes a little to make the single window feel a little fuller and wider. If you notice in the above pictures. The drapes are what makes this space feel pulled together and cozy.

A lot is “suppose” to happen this week (week 4). I’ve got painting, floor refinishing and wallpaper going up. Week 5 is going to be about pulling it all together and getting last minute finishing touches figured out before the photographer comes.

Here’s a quick recap of my design plan. Kate Spade meets Lilly Pulitzer.
